Moving and copying

Culling usually ends with the survivors somewhere of their own: a selects folder to hand to an editor, a web folder for the ones going online.

Queue a move or a copy

Select the frames, press V, and name a destination folder. Cullant creates the folder when it runs the queue, so it does not have to exist yet.

Like everything else, this is queued rather than done. It shows up in the commit dialog with the deletes, and you review it there.

Where it can go

The destination is a folder inside the project. Cullant checks the path before it accepts it: it refuses .. and it refuses a drive letter, so a mistyped destination cannot land your photos outside the folder you opened.

If you need them somewhere else entirely, move the folder afterwards with your file manager.

Whole shots move together

With mirror mode on, a move takes the whole shot: RAW, JPEG, companions and sidecar. A selects folder that holds the JPEG but not its RAW is not much use to anybody.

Move or copy?

• Move when the project folder is where the shoot lives and you want it organised.
• Copy when you are handing a subset to somebody and the original set must stay intact.

What is planned

Rules that queue these for you, such as “five stars moves to /selects”, are on the list, and the database already keeps rule-made actions distinguishable from hand-made ones. The interface for writing them is not built yet. Until it is, V on a filtered selection does the same job in one step: filter to five stars, select all, move.
